Greenwin Cares was pleased to welcome the teams from Seneca Polytechnic Applied Research and Just Vertical for a visit to SRRA’s Vertical Garden.

Through our partnership with Seneca Polytechnic, we’re proud to support the research project “Vertical Gardening: Growing Local Food Security and Community Connection.” This national initiative, funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) through the College and Community Social Innovation Fund, explores how indoor vertical gardens can support stronger and healthier communities.

The research is examining how community-based vertical gardens can:

  • Improve access to fresh, healthy food
  • Strengthen community connections
  • Support mental wellbeing through hands-on gardening
  • Identify opportunities to expand sustainable indoor growing

We’re proud that the vertical garden at the San Romanoway Revitalization Association (SRRA) can contribute to research that helps build more connected and resilient communities across Canada.

Thank you to the Seneca and Just Vertical teams — we look forward to seeing the results of this important work.
