During Ramadan, Greenwin Cares partnered with our friends at the TNO Food Collaborative to provide thousands of families in the Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park communities with dried fruits, nuts and other nourishing foods.

Food is an important part of Ramadan's traditions, as family and friends gather to share and enjoy the two meals that are served: Iftar celebrated at sunset when Muslims break their fast, and Suhoor consumed early in the morning before the day starts. Fasting from sunrise to sunset requires energy and your body must consume the required amount of nutrients before you start the fast. That’s why nutrient-rich foods like nuts and dates are often consumed when breaking fast.

Greenwin Cares was thrilled to be able to collaborate with our residents and the surrounding community during this holy month. It’s meaningful partnerships like this – with organizations like The Neighbourhood Organization (TNO), who was recently awarded the Toronto Community Champion Award by the City of Toronto – that contribute to healthy and united communities.
