Today we would like to share the story of Rose, Resident Manager, 80 Cosburn Ave.:
I have worked as a Resident Manager at 80 Cosburn Avenue (owned by Hanard Investments Ltd. and managed by Greenwin) for 10 of the 20 years that I have lived in Canada. It has kept me mentally and physically strong. Every day, I try my best to engage in meaningful conversations with my residents. They're my family. When I see them around, I love to make small jokes because it makes them feel warm inside and gives them a reason to smile, even if they're having a hard day. If there is a birthday, I give them flowers and a little treat. I don't mind spending time giving back to the community because when they're happy, it brings me joy.
In this crazy world, where everyone is rushing to and from their nine-to-fives, loving your career and the people you work with is the key to success and fulfilment. One of the best parts of my job is hosting our annual yard sale for SickKids Hospital, which is always supported by my work family and my resident family. Life is all about working together and supporting each other.
During my time here, I have created a professional workspace that is also my home. My residents know they can come to me anytime with questions or concerns and I will be happy to help. Whether they need me to walk their dog because they are sick, pick up a prescription or book their appointments for the COVID-19 vaccine, I am always pleased to do it because family comes first. I am grateful to be a part of a company that shares that same value and encourages learning and professional growth.
Over the years, many residents have come and gone. I am proud to say that years later, the same people still call or text me to check in on me. Nothing makes me happier than knowing they are doing well.
