On Sunday, August 17, Greenwin Cares was honoured to be part of the Tour de DUKE Heights Bike Event 2025, hosted at York University. This annual community celebration gave children from priority neighbourhoods across Toronto the opportunity to receive a bike, helmet, and cycling safety training — setting them up for an active and healthy future.
Our Director of Greenwin Cares, Lily W., was invited to participate in the event and help select bike recipients. Lily chose children from Greenwin communities in Neighbourhood Improvement Areas, ensuring they could be part of this memorable experience.
The day was filled with excitement: from bike fittings and safety instruction to face painting, crafts, ice cream, and a fun bike race at the York Commons loop. Families gathered to cheer on the kids as they rode proudly on their new wheels.
We are deeply thankful to DUKE Heights BIA for organizing such a thoughtful event, and to the many community leaders and partners who made it possible; Councillor James Pasternak, Councillor Anthony Perruzza, alongside Toronto Police 31 Division, York University, Regenesis Cycle York and CycleTO.
Moments like these reflect what Greenwin Cares is all about — working hand in hand with partners to create brighter futures for the neighbourhoods we serve.
