#MyGreenwinLife highlights individual members of the Greenwin team by exploring their unique journeys, which have led them to become valued members of our company. Through the inspiring stories, memories and experiences of our people, we hope to celebrate the connection and sense of community that is the backbone of our company.
Today we would like to share the story of Maureen Hines, Senior Property Accountant, and congratulate her on her 25th anniversary at Greenwin:
Of the 30 plus years I’ve spent in the property management industry, I am proud to say that 25 of them have been at Greenwin. When I first joined Greenwin, we were located at the Yonge and Eglinton Centre, where we would have musical entertainment in the lobby on various occasions. We then moved to Valleybrook, where we spent summer lunches picnicking on the lawn. Finally, we relocated to our present location on Lesmill Rd., which is a very modern and beautiful office space where we have hosted holiday functions, retirement parties, birthday parties and other community-building events.
Over the years I have met many wonderful people, many of whom have turned into life-long friends. My managers and coworkers have always been encouraging and supportive, which has built morale and made Greenwin a great place to work. I fondly remember in 2002, both office staff and site staff came together for a big event located at the Yonge and Eglinton movie theatre. There was so much excitement and unity on this day, as the many faces of Greenwin gathered together. It truly felt like a large family event! Another highlight for me was the day I flew out to Quebec with the CEO to visit one of our properties and meet the site staff.
Long before the COVID-19 pandemic, Greenwin gave me the opportunity to work in a hybrid model from home and from the office. Having this flexibility was a true blessing as it allowed me to maintain a work-life balance between my career and being a mother and a wife.
I am proud to work for a company that truly takes pride in taking care of its people. From the residents, to the employees and our diverse clientele, everyone is treated like family. I have been fortunate to be a recipient of the company’s generosity on numerous occasions, with my two sons both being granted the Harold Green Scholarship, which Greenwin graciously offers each year.
Building transparency and trust are values that I hold dear, and to work with a company that espouses these same principles is extremely important to me. Greenwin Cares is involved in creating and supporting a number of initiatives and charities in the communities we serve. It is because of Greenwin Cares that I signed up Team Greenwin for the annual Sporting Life 10K in support of Campfire Circle, formerly Camp Ooch and Camp Trillium. Along with Lily Wong, Director, Greenwin Cares, and Scott Fleet, Manager, Capital Projects, I’ve had the privilege of being a team captain for over 6 years. Each year, we have raised over $10,000 for this charity, to support them on their mission to help kids and families affected by childhood cancer.
It has been evident to me since the beginning of my journey at Greenwin, that I am part of a company that cares deeply about the community. From revitalizing the communities that we serve, to putting programs in place to improve the lives of our residents, at Greenwin people always come first. Greenwin’s social efforts align with my faith and my commitment to give back, and it is an honour to be celebrating my 25th anniversary at this company.
