Unfortunately, winter IS coming (unless you really love winter). Here at Greenwin, we want to make sure you apartment is a cozy refuge during the chilly and long winter months. Here are a few of our top tips to help you prep your apartment for the epic Canadian winter ahead.

Check for Drafts - The biggest culprit for chilliness in your apartment is drafts coming in from windows. Test to see if you can feel cool air on your hand when your window is closed tightly. If you can, speak with your landlord as soon as possible to get the drafts sealed. You may also feel drafts coming in from under your front door, something that can be remedied with a simple towel or draft stopper of your choice.

Ceiling Fan Switcheroo - Got a ceiling fan in your apartment? Most fans come with a reverse switch, which will let you reverse the direction of the blades to actually keep the warmer air ON you rather than away from you.

Test Your Heat - Give your heating system a test now before the cold weather really sets in. If anything is not working as it should, speak with your landlord right away to get it dealt with now. If you have baseboard heat, take a vacuum and suck up as much of the summer dust and grime as you can that will have settled (that smell of burning dust is never pleasant).

Stock Up - Just in Case - You never know what these Canadian winters will bring, so it's always a good idea to stock up on essentials now in the event of a power outage. Flashlights, canned food, bottled water and warm, heavy bedding will give you peace of mind.
