Functionality. A good neighbourhood would have day-to-day necessities near by. Having things like a convenience store, grocery store, dry cleaner, and a restaurant near your home make all the difference. They add character to the neighbourhood and save time for residents.

Amenities. While not a necessity, it would be great for a neighbourhood to have certain amenities available to their residents so they do not have to travel far to go to the movie theatre, restaurants, a bowling alley, a coffee shop, etc.

Safety. Having a safe, friendly, and clean environment is important so that all residents feel comfortable both in their homes and in their neighbourhood.

Accessibility. A good neighbourhood should accommodate all kinds of transportation, including public transportation, drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians. If you don't drive or own a vehicle, it is important that your neighbourhood be easily accessible to the public bus, streetcar, or subway system.

Appearance. A neighbourhood that has a design element to it with architectural structures, murals, and statues is visually appealing and more enjoyable to residents and visitors! An artistic edge also makes the neighbourhood more memorable.

Social Responsibility. It's important for a neighbourhood to promote social responsibility in several different ways. Promoting sustainability and recycling ensures that the neighbourhood values community involvement and sustaining our environment.

You! Possibly the most important aspect of the neighbourhood is, well, the neighbours! Being a good neighbour is the best thing you can do. Be nice, friendly, and help others when they ask for it (and expect them to do the same for you).
