In the second blog of our Student Advice series, we're looking at apartment decor that not only looks great, but serves a very important purpose - it will help you make the most of your studying time!

Lighting - Having the right lighting is key to being able to focus. If your room doesn't receive a lot of natural light, you'll want to make sure you get some lamps that will help to fill that void. Our top tip is to have your desk facing a window, but if that is not possible you can head to IKEA to grab some inexpensive (but still stylish) lamps that can either sit on your desk or hang above you.

This one, in particular, is our favourite and can be purchased here.

Desk Chair - Let's face it - you're going to spend a long time sitting in your chair as you write essays and do research. You'll want to get yourself a chair that has padding and arm rests if possible. If not, you can modify a kitchen chair with pillows to help make it more comfortable.

Reading Chair - While this is not required, it is very nice to have. If you need to do a lot of reading, finding yourself a nice, comfortable chair to do it in will make a big difference. Consider it your own little reading nook. If you can't have a special chair, you may just want to create a comfortable corner on your bed with lots of pillows and blankets in which to get your reading done.

What are some of your favourite study-friendly furniture?
