  1. Guest List – Establishing a guest list is important for any party, but arguably more important if you are throwing a party in your apartment since it is a smaller space. You wouldn't want to have all of your guests crammed in and bumping into one another, and neither would they! Establish a number of people you feel comfortable having in your apartment (based on the size) and then make your list with that number in mind. You should also let your invitees know to inform you if they will be bringing someone with them.
  1. Be A Good Neighbour – Let your neighbours know (well in advance) that you will be having a party. This should include neighbours on your floor, as well as those above and below you. Letting them know ahead of time is good etiquette because it will show them that you are concerned for their needs and it will give them enough time to prepare for a noisier evening than usual, or make plans of their own for that night so that they don't have to hear the noise. If you have room on your guest list, invite your neighbours to your party! Even if they say no, they will then be aware that you are having a party and know that it might be noisy.
  1. Food, Drinks, and Décor – Keep it simple! Having a party can be stressful, and serving extravagant spreads of food and having fancy decorations will just add to that stress. Keeping the food and drinks simple will also make it easier for your guests to eat (since they won't be necessarily sitting at a table) and it will make it easier for you to clean up after the party.
  1. Keep Guest Belongings Safe – We've all been to a party where someone's bag, coat, or shoes goes missing. If your guest list is small and intimate, this is very unlikely, but it will still give your guests peace of mind. Pick a spot, closet, or bedroom in your apartment where all belongings will be stored. This will also avoid clutter and save space around the apartment, and everyone's stuff will be kept in one place. When a guest arrives, take their belongings to your designated area, and be the one to give them back when they are leaving. This will ensure your guests that their things are kept safely and that no one else accidentally picks up someone else's things (which is very common).
  1. Relax and Enjoy the Party! – You spent all of this time organizing a fun party, so enjoy it! Relaxing and having a good time is the best thing for yourself and for your guests.
