After 28 years of dedication and service to Greenwin, we wish superintendent Marie Slaunwhite a happy retirement.

Here's what Greenwin Property Manager Lorelei Holden had to say about her time with Marie:

Someone once said that you should not simply retire, but rather, that you should have something to retire to. Retirement should be the beginning of something.

We all have to work for a living and, however much we may enjoy the work, it is still a huge commitment of our time and talents.

Anyone will tell you that your commitment expands to fit the amount of time you are prepared to give to it. So if Marie thinks that she will have time to write the definitive book on “Surprises Of a Super” she will probably find she has much more important things to do. Her presence will be very important to friends or to a grandchild who is having a birthday party. Retirement gives you a chance to adjust to the really important things in life.

It's all about priorities. Her job has been her main priority for these past twenty eight years and she gave it all the attention the job demanded. She found great satisfaction in her work and, I know, enjoyed the company of her colleagues and tenants.

We are lucky we live in an age of great change. Nobody can have any excuse to find life dull. Certainly I know Marie with her lively imagination and her interest in those around her, will find life full of surprises. I know too that she will be happy to spend more time with her family. What I don't know yet is exactly what she is going to do to surprise us all.

She may become involved in a charity of her choice. It's all in the future and the wonderful thing is that the future is there waiting for her to do something wonderful.

Whatever she does, as the song says, "It's all right with me". I know you too wish her the retirement of her dreams. So Marie here's to a retirement filled with exciting yet-to-be's!"

Ladies and gentlemen a toast to Marie. May her future be even brighter than her past.

Marie, on behalf of Greenwin's staff and the tenants who have had the fortune of living on your properties, best of luck - and get some sleep!
