Inspiring our city's youth is in Kwame Agyemang's DNA. Having grown up in Toronto's Black Creek community as an award-winning student and athlete, he learned that his greatest weapon was a strong body and mind.

Kwame's first foray into the heart of our city's at-risk community was in 2007, when he donated his time to the Driftwood Community Centre's Boys and Girls Club. By 2009, Kwame had accepted a role with the OCAYA organization. In 2010, he joined Doorsteps Neighbourhood Services, a community development group dedicated to education, recreation, empowerment and self-esteem in Toronto's Daystrom, Chalkfarm and Falstaff neighbourhoods. There, he climbed the ranks from Program Coordinator to Camp Director.

In 2013, Kwame began his journey with the Believe to Achieve Organization (BTA). As BTA's well-rounded, much-loved Program Manager, he is a driving force of change for youth at risk of violence and antisocial behaviour in Toronto's Black Creek Community. Kwame has been instrumental in the execution and management of a range of initiatives, including afterschool programs, youth programs, drop-in boxing programs and women's fitness group programs. He is known for having an approachable leadership style that nurtures participants' natural talents, inspires self-esteem, and ignites widespread commitment to a better future.

"I would like to say thank you so much for your words of praise and encouragement," said Kwame. "All the work that was done to get us here was a team effort... I can't take all the credit without saying congratulations to the team for always working hard and believing in the participants of BTA and Spiders Web Youth Empowerment Centre."

Kwame holds a Social Service Worker diploma from Seneca College and completed his social services work placement with COSTI immigration services. He is currently working toward completing his degree in Social Work. Kwame's transformative work keeping Toronto's youth on the right path has been featured on Global News, Share News, and the BTA website.
