In Canada, June 21st is National Indigenous Peoples Day. This is a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the heritage, culture, and contributions that the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people offer to our country. Here are a few ways you can support Aboriginal peoples:

Discover & Support Indigenous Artists
One simple way to support Indigenous culture is by exposing yourself to Indigenous art – whether it be music, literature, or fine art. Apple Music and Spotify each have dedicated playlists that showcase some essential songs by Indigenous Canadian musicians. If you’re someone who’s always searching for a new book, this can be a gateway for a plenty of fresh titles. Check out this list compiled by CBC, cataloguing 35 books by Indigenous authors. If you are interested in paintings, the DaVic Art Gallery is an authorized online Inuit art retailer that hosts some extraordinary pieces by Native Canadians.

Shop from Indigenous Businesses
There are over 50,000 Indigenous businesses in Canada and most of them are small-medium sized enterprises. Take the time to find a new product or brand, while directly supporting an Indigenous business. This article from Narcity lists some businesses that sell an array of products from beauty & skincare, to apparel, art, and in true Canadian fashion, maple syrup.
