#MyGreenwinLife is a series highlighting individual members of the Greenwin team by exploring their unique journeys, which have led them to become valued members of our company. Through the inspiring stories, memories and experiences of our people, we hope to celebrate the connection and sense of community that is the backbone of our company.

Today we would like to share the story of Ruel, Maintenance Manager, The Oaks.:

We are proud of the work we do because it comes from the heart. Greenwin makes this "job" seem less like a job and more like a passion.

Before I came to Canada, life was rough, and every day was a battle for survival. For 17 years, I worked on a ship under extremely dangerous and life-threatening conditions. I was away from my family and my loved ones for almost 10 months out of the year. My life was constantly in jeopardy because of bad weather. I stopped working on ships in 2007 because I was going to Canada to be with my wife and son. Greenwin gave my family a chance to thrive and start a life.

My first job here in Canada was as a building cleaner at 6000 Bathurst. Years later I met Eric Clarke (Senior Property Manager with Greenwin) who taught me how to fix things and become a maintenance worker. I was then hired onto the Greenwin team and have never looked back. Greenwin also hired my wife as a cleaner, allowing us to work together. I couldn't have asked for a better team by my side. I'm very happy when working alongside my family and the entire Greenwin team has become my family. Words cannot express enough how grateful we are to Greenwin for the amazing opportunity and life they have given us.

At the Oaks, every one of us loves what we do. We always try to help each other out, especially if there is an emergency and if someone can't do something. Greenwin is a team, and we work together to share ideas and solve problems. Recently, we have started having immunization clinics at the Oaks to bring the vaccine to vulnerable individuals in our building. Every tenant that gets their shot at home cannot thank Greenwin enough for organizing these clinics as some of them can't get to a clinic. It means the world to them, and it shows that Greenwin cares about each tenant.

Thank you, Greenwin, for everything you do!
