Today we would like to share the story of Malasia Hewitt, Leasing Specialist:
I’ve always believed in the quote, “right time, right place.”
My career journey at Greenwin began when I was 24 years old. At the time, my dad had given me the responsibility of picking up my younger brother from the local basketball program held at the Chalkfarm Community Center. One evening, as I came to get my brother, I began speaking with the caretaker for the center, Earl. One thing led to another, and he told me I would be a perfect fit for a job opening at The Oaks Rental Office. It was perfect timing, as I was looking for a job at the time. Today, because I was in the right place at the right time, I have now been a part of the Greenwin family for 14 years!
I am beyond grateful for Earl, who saw potential in me, especially having no experience in the position. Greenwin is an organization that helps you learn, grow, and reach your full potential. I am a living testimony of this statement, as they have supported me to become the Leasing Specialist that I am today. This year, I successfully reached my goal of leasing all of the rental units that I manage. This includes The Oaks, which has 1215 units, 25 San Romanoway, which has 232, and 1639 Bloor St. W., which has 46. This accomplishment would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the entire Chalkfarm family, which I am lucky to surround myself with every day.
Being a Leasing Specialist has allowed me to gain a lot of meaningful relations with a diverse group of people, including both Greenwin team members and residents. It has broadened my professional and personal network, as well as allowed me to make a difference in the lives of others, which is extremely rewarding to me. Greenwin is a people-centered organization and that is what I love about being a team member here. Our views and suggestions are heard and valued, and I could not be more grateful for that.
My career advancements would not have been possible without the support and mentorship of my colleague, Murray Osterer, Associate Vice President, Operations. He has gone the extra mile in helping me to become a better leasing professional and overall version of myself. Not to mention, I truly appreciate his sense of humor and daily jokes! Working with the Chalkfarm team has allowed me to be successful in my role, as everyone respects, appreciates, and values one another. At Greenwin, I have found a family away from home.
