This past Saturday, July 26th, Greenwin Cares, in partnership with the San Romanoway Revitalization Association, was proud to host the 6th annual Tastes and Sounds of Jane & Finch, a vibrant celebration of culture, connection, and community spirit.
The SRRA is a charitable organization committed to creating a sense of belonging in the community by supporting families, individuals, and groups. They take a proactive approach to community safety, involving a variety of stakeholders in their efforts to build a safer and healthier environment. The SRRA's programming includes summer day camps, breakfast and after-school assistance for children and youth, educational and empowerment sessions, and seniors' lunch programs. This model exemplifies how public-private partnerships can foster a more connected community, leading to a greater positive impact through insight-based support services and programming.
A huge shout-out to the incredible Greenwin Cares team — Lily W., Melissa G., and Ossana B. — for their vision, energy, and commitment in bringing this event to life year after year. Your dedication to uplifting the Jane and Finch community is what makes this celebration so meaningful.
Greenwin’s Jessica G. and Jenn G. had the honour of MC’ing the event and making a very special announcement: plans are underway for a 24/7 indoor bubble recreational facility in the heart of Jane and Finch, created in partnership with Philpott Children’s Tennis. This game-changing space will offer year-round access to tennis, pickleball, and other inclusive programming that promotes wellness, mentorship, safety, and opportunity.
We’re incredibly proud to be working alongside Philpott Children’s Tennis, a remarkable organization with a longstanding commitment to equity in sport and youth development. Together, we’re creating a new model of recreation-based engagement that will benefit generations to come.
We’re also deeply grateful to MPP Tom Rakocevic and MP Judy Sgro for their ongoing support and for joining us on Saturday. Your continued presence and advocacy mean so much to this community and to our work.
Special thanks to this year’s sponsors and supporters:
• Maple Lodge Farms
• Toronto Police 31 Division Community Police Liaison Committee (CPLC)
• Durante’s NoFrills
• Yorkgate Mall
• Our dedicated volunteers
• All of our vendors
• And every one of you who came out to show love for Jane and Finch
This celebration was about more than food and music — it was about building a stronger, more connected future where everyone in our communities has the opportunity to thrive.
