Today is Giving Tuesday. Known as the “opening day of the giving season,” it’s a time when charities, companies, and individuals come together to bring change in their communities.

This Giving Tuesday, we would like to highlight 3 of the many ways our incredible Greenwin Cares team is giving back to the communities we serve today and year-round.

1. Laptops for Learning

Laptops for Learning was created out of the principle that no child should fall behind on their education because of a lack of resources. Through the program, laptops, donated by Greenwin and our community partners, are given to local students facing challenges with remote learning due to inadequate access to technology.

2. Vaccine Clinics

Throughout the pandemic, supporting the health and safety of our residents and the communities we serve has been our top priority. In order to keep our communities safe we partnered with local health organizations to bring vaccines directly to the doors of our most at-risk residents. To date, we have held 17 and counting vaccine clinics, in which over 6,000 vaccinations have been administered. Today, we continue to partner with various local health care organizations and community partners to bring vaccination clinics to more of our properties.

3. Holiday Meal prep

Throughout the month of December, Greenwin is teaming up with local politicians, The Toronto Police 13 and 31 Divisions, Auxilliary Police members, youth volunteers and other volunteers from the local community to donate fresh food and package 15,000 holiday meals for people across the GTA who are facing food insecurities. We kicked off our holiday meal prep yesterday with an incredible donation of 5 skids of meat donated by MVR Cash and Carry, which was given to families through The Believe to Achieve Organization, The San Romanoway Revitalization Association, and Kitchen24.

Steve Kidron, owner of Kitchen24, an innovative commercial kitchen, ghost kitchen and event rental space, is supplying and cooking the food for this Holiday Season event.  Steve has prepared and distributed over 300,000 meals to the community since the beginning of COVID-19 and always welcomes new and interested volunteers to work beside him.

From raising money for important charities, to knitting wool gloves and outfits for premature babies, to baking for local shelters, and clearing garbage, our residents have done it all and we are so proud of them! It’s not too late to enter, post a picture of how you're paying it forward on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with #winwithgreenwin or email info@greenwin.ca to enter to win a $150 gift card!
