On July 8th, Greenwin Cares led a vertical farming presentation for the youth at the San Romanoway Revitalization Association— an inspiring community initiative focused on sustainable living and urban agriculture in partnership with JustVertical.

In collaboration with SRRA, Greenwin’s Community Project Specialist, Melissa G. led an interactive workshop teaching kids about vertical farming, sustainable living, community gardening, and how to grow their own healthy food.

One of the highlights of the day was giving each child the opportunity to plant their own vegetables and herbs, which they will continue to monitor, nurture, and eventually harvest to take home — reinforcing the value of patience, care, and sustainability.

This initiative also addressed the critical issue of food insecurity, which continues to affect many urban communities across Canada. By teaching children how to grow their own food, we are helping equip them with practical skills to increase access to fresh, nutritious produce—an essential step toward creating healthier, more resilient neighbourhoods.

At Greenwin, we believe in supporting programs that not only strengthen communities but also empower the next generation to lead with knowledge, responsibility, and purpose.
