Job Description

Summary:  The Maintenance Manager will plan, coordinate, direct and monitor the effectiveness of all operational activities within the maintenance department.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Own initiatives that pertain to building systems, including obtaining quotes, approving NREs, Purchase Orders, etc.
  • Work alongside Operations to ensure expedited approvals are received on urgent matters
  • Be the first point of contact for site team members in all matters pertaining to building systems prior to reaching out to contractors, ensuring pertinent details are received
  • Play an active role in the Work Order Completion process for all properties
  • Responsible for resolving all open work orders that exceed 30 days, recommend solutions to help move the work orders towards resolution, in conjunction with the PM and Regional Directors
  • Perform site inspections, develop reports and improvement plans for managed properties.
  • Supervise department team members to perform proper general, routine maintenance, minor repairs, fire safety, and scheduled servicing operations to maintain the portfolio of properties in a safe manner
  • Provide new team members with fire, life & safety and policy training
  • Schedule annual refreshment training to all site staff as required
  • Assist with annual fire safety plan reviews, quarterly fire drills and elevator testing
  • Manage and assist in the process of obtaining/renewing new fire and other certificates, contracts and services
  • Schedule walk throughs of the properties to ensure compliance and report related deficiencies
  • Work together with the Operations division while coordinating and supporting respective teams on all fronts

Who You Are:

  • 5+ years maintenance experience or equivalent
  • 5+ years experience in a property/facility maintenance field
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong leadership, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of building systems
  • 3+yr experience in property/facility maintenance field
  • Able to lift 50lbs, climb stairs, climb ladders, dexterous
  • Must be available for after-hour emergencies
  • Strong trouble shooting and problem-solving skills
  • BES II Certification an asset
  • Must have access to a vehicle and valid Ontario “G” driver’s licence
