Job Description

Summary: The Designer will work in collaboration with the development and construction team through due diligence, predevelopment and development phases for mixed use (predominantly residential) projects across the GTA.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design management and provide insights on built form and design guidelines
  • Prepare design briefs to document Owner requirements with respect to scope, schedule and budget through design development and contract administration
  • Assist with due diligence for new acquisitions and projects, especially in regards to design elements and conceptual designs
  • Critically evaluate architectural and engineering concepts for all projects to optimize building process, efficiency, and feasible implementation
  • Provide insights on all design-related components including external form and internal layout
  • Manage consultants, design-related inquiries and deliverables
  • Assist with project budget creation, design cost inputs, and continuous monitoring, as well as schedules, budgets and reports for Executives
  • Liaise with JV partners, planners and municipal staff to ensure alignment of goals and timelines
  • Attend development meetings relating to projects and document requirements.
  • Proactively manage, review and prioritize the project work plans with objective to stay on time and on budget
  • Oversee project timelines/costs, and report to Executive Management and other stakeholders
  • Clearly and effectively communicate approval briefs and proposals, including recommendations to Executive Management and other project stakeholders
  • Create and implement internal processes and templates for the design role/team

Qualifications:

  • Experience working on active mid to high-rise multi-residential group development projects
  • Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in Architecture or related design field
  • Confidence in running active projects with direction as required
  • Ability to problem solve effectively and adept at presenting complex information clearly and concisely
  • Demonstrates excellent project management and presentation skills with an emphasis on leading the design process
  • Collaborative attitude with the capacity and willingness to manage multiple tasks by being flexible/adaptable and responding to changing circumstances
  • Excels in a high volume, dynamic and fast paced environment and enjoys new challenges
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal with a successful track record in working with stakeholders of multiple disciplines
  • Highly collaborative and self-motivated, with strong leadership skills
  • Skilled in the use of Word, Outlook, and Excel
