Job Description
Summary: The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for the financial reporting required for a designated portfolio of assets and to assist the Manager, Accounting, in the supervision of the day-to-day activities of the Property Accountants.
What you'll get to do:
- Timely and accurate reporting on portfolio of assets’ financial results, including comprehensive variance analysis.
- Quality assurance review of monthly financial statements package, management reports, budgets, and forecasts, prepared by Property Accountants, prior to release of documents to clients.
- Preparation of statutory compliance and regulatory reporting (e.g. GST/HST returns).
- Preparation of year-end general ledger working papers, draft financial statements and liaise with external accountants or auditors for year-end financial statements reporting requirements.
- Assist with onboarding of new business assets and offboarding of managed assets that have been sold or transferred to a new management company.
- Work collaboratively with intra-departments to provide support on accounting related matters, which impacts financial reporting.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager, Accounting.
Who you are:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a senior accounting role, preferably in property management or real estate industry.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or enrollment in CPA program
- Strong understanding and up to date knowledge of accounting standards
- Proficiency in Yardi Voyager 7s preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Client facing
- Experience with publicly traded company an asset.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with tenants, clients, and internal stakeholders.
- Meticulous with an elevated level of accuracy and analytical ability.
- Proven history of meeting targets and deadlines in a challenging environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Solution driven – “will turn every stone” to find solutions to the problem, innovative mindset.
- Excellent attitude and willingness to continuously learn and update skills to remain competitive and challenged.
