Scarborough Apartments
Scarborough is one of Toronto’s oldest boroughs and is a popular choice for renters of all income levels since affordable apartments for rent can easily be found. Scarborough is also a popular choice for immigrants and thus the borough contains many different ethnic enclaves, restaurants, and cultural activities. Scarborough is justly famous for its ethnic restaurants and residents and visitors can enjoy Chinese, Caribbean, Indian, Indonesian, African and many other ethnic foods. The east end of Scarborough near Lawrence Avenue and Scarborough Golf Club Road are family residential areas, which offer easy access to the Highway 401 and parks along the Rouge River and Little Rouge Creek. Affordable family apartments for rent can be found in the Eglinton Avenue and Victoria Park neighbourhood, which benefits from the Eglinton Square shopping centre. Kingston Road is Scarborough’s oldest street and renters on this street will find themselves within walking distance of many stores and shops.
Scarborough is at the easternmost borough of the city of Toronto and was once an independent municipality before being amalgamated into Toronto in the late 1990s. The borough has more than 600,000 people and ranges from high-rise apartments to single family homes (and even a few farms in the east end). Many different companies operate in Scarborough, supplying employment for tens of thousands, although the financial, insurance, and high-tech industries are not strongly represented. Shoppers will find shopping throughout the borough, including the Scarborough Town Centre and Eglinton Square, plus innumerable smaller stores and shops along the main streets and avenues. Scarborough contains the Toronto Zoo and youth are educated in over a hundred schools, plus Centennial College and a satellite campus of the University of Toronto. Renters will find it easy to get around Scarborough using TTC buses and the Scarborough RT rail system, while GO Transit has seven train stations in Scarborough. The Highway 401 runs across the northern border of Scarborough, while the Don Valley Expressway runs along the western border leading into downtown Toronto.
