Hamilton Apartments

Hamilton has one of the highest proportions of rental apartments to population, so renters have many choices in this busy city. Most rental buildings are found in three areas: the downtown core, the east end (flowing into Stony Creek), and the west end near McMaster University. However, the greatest range of choices and the best apartments for rent are found in the downtown core. Always busy, Hamilton’s downtown contains a wide range of stores, restaurants, offices, and businesses providing a full service area for renters to live. Jackson Square is a large indoor shopping mall, while King Street and James Street North offer many small specialty shops for all tastes. Hess Village offers bars and nightlife and Copps Coliseum offers sports and musical performances. Renters will find most rental apartments in the downtown core are in high-rise buildings, which offer extra amenities and are within walking distance of the busy areas.

Hamilton has a population of more than half-a-million people. In recent years the city has shown signs of an economic revitalization and resurgence into high-tech and new economy business so the future is looking bright. The downtown core is the busiest part of the city, at least during the day, but Hamilton is large enough that neighbourhoods can seem like small towns on their own, especially with the Niagara Escarpment dividing the city into two parts. McMaster University and Mohawk College, both well respected institutions, the former with a medical school, are located in the west end of the city and each year educate many thousands of students from across Ontario. Hamilton is located at the west end of Lake Ontario and residents can enjoy the natural beauty of Coot’s Paradise and several marinas. Hamilton Harbour is protected from the worst weather of Lake Ontario and is large enough to allow recreational boating. Highway 403 leads west to Brantford and London, east to Burlington and the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW), while Highway 6 leads north to the Highway 401. GO Transit has a refurbished train stop in the downtown with daily trains for commuters to Toronto.
