Moncton Apartments

Moncton is the largest city in the province of New Brunswick, located in the southeastern end of the province closest to Nova Scotia. Although Fredericton is the province’s capital, Moncton is the economic powerhouse for the province. Renters will find apartments spread throughout the city’s residential areas and the downtown, so drive around and find an area which appeals.

Grocery stores are located along the major arterial roads including Mountain Road, Main Street, and Elmwood Drive. Moncton’s two hospitals are located heading northwest of the core, on the north side of Mountain Road; the universities and colleges are located north of the core near the Wheeler Boulevard ring road and near Magnetic Hill.

Moncton is home to over 126,000 people and the city has one of the largest population growth rates among large cities in Canada. The city is Canada’s first officially bilingual city, reflecting a significant Francophone population. The city survived economic near-ruin in the 1980s but has rebounded as a major economic centre in the Maritimes. Moncton is home to the headquarters of many of corporate Canada’s biggest companies, but the single largest sector is the call centre industry which employs over 7,200 people.

Several retail shopping centres have become prominent in the local economy and transportation was helped by a new bridge connecting Moncton with Riverview, located on the south side of the river. The city contains numerous schools, both Anglophone and Francophone, plus three universities, including the esteemed Mount Allison University. Outdoors people will find two national parks nearby, while tourists will enjoy the Magnetic Hill and new casino. Transportation is helped by an international airport (with the largest pilot school in Canada), good highways (connecting to the Trans-Canada Highway), and a 22-line public bus system.
